Into their degree the students of Kronoby gymnasium have the possibility to include studies conducted in another school. This parallel education is realized through studies at a completely separate school, during one period of the school year. After three years at the gymnasium they will study 1-1,5 years at the other school, in order to complete the additional degree. Popular courses at other schools during one’s senior high school education have been eg business school courses, computer science, nursing, farming and handicraft. These parallel studies at an other school are popular at Kronoby gymnasium; out of the first-year students almost 50 a third spend  their 5th period elsewhere, out of second-year students c 75 per cent and c 25 per cent of the third-year students usually make use of this opportunity.

Kronoby gymnasium provides its students the opportunity to take part in special projects that are completed with a trip abroad. This year the students can participate in a development assistance project in Senegal, Africa. After completed preparatory studies the students will travel to Africa, staying there for a good two weeks. An other project is the course “Holocaust”, which consists of special studies in history (realized on the Internet), studies that are completed with a week in Poland and Germany, where the students get acquainted with  II World War concentration camps. Our gymnasium also has a traditional student exchange program with a Finnish-speaking senior high school in Rovaniemi, Lyseonpuiston lukio. A group of students participate in the tuition there during one week and also host the Finnish-speaking students of that school for one week.
